Our Fundraising Programme
It costs £500,000 per year to run our services and this financial year (2011-2012) we predicted a £85,000 deficit! To bridge this gap and avoid having to reduce our services, we have an extensive fundraising programme planned. So far this year, we have held a sponsored firewalk, 2 curry evenings and a Starlight Ball – plus various opportunities for stalls supporting local events – selling scrumptious SoLO cakes! It all helps!
If you are local to Solihull and want to support SoLO at the same time as saving yourself some money with local traders, try our Peel2Save cards! We have been nominated as an official distributor to help raise funds and support local businesses. Cards are £10 available from Maria at the SoLO office. Go on, you know you want to!
Fundraising Events 2011/2012
9th March: Sing for SoLO at Dorridge Methodist Church: a feelgood evening that will have you tapping your feet and coming out with a song on your lips! And all for SoLO. Tickets coming soon…………
Zip & Zumba: Sunday 24th June – our 2012 “No Limits” Challenge! Be part of it! If you like an adrenalin rush, then this is the event for you! Slide down the zip wire, then zumba to the beat!
Bring your friends, have a day out with the family or ask your workmates to form a team – we are taking over Heart Park, Meriden for the day and it will be great!
Sign up and be sponsored to ride a thrilling zip-wire, flying 200ft over water! Or, if you fancy grooving to the beat, how about joining in our ongoing sponsored zumba class, out in the open air! Perhaps you could even double your sponsorship by taking part in both!? The choice is yours… Get in touch now, to find out more!
29th September – Gala Concert with the Morriston Orpheus Choir at Solihull Arts Complex: You can be involved! We will be looking for programme advertisers, sponsorship opportunities, raffle prizes – and of course audience members! Tickets available from the Arts Complex Box Office, tel: 0121 704 6962, opening hours: 10 to 5 Monday to Saturday.
SoLO Snow Ball – 1st December at the Motorcycle Museum: Live band, fine food, full entertainment - Tickets: £47.50 or 5% earlybird discount if booked before September!

Curry Evening 22.11.11: We had a very good evening at The Mint in Yardley and raised £230 . Thanks to all who supported by being there – and to those of you who also contributed even if you weren’t!! Watch this space for the next one…………………………
Starlight Ball, 15.10.11: we certainly had a ball and thanks to everyone’s generosity we raised over £4000 – which is brilliant!!
Hot Coals Challenge June 2011: “The shortest sponsored walk ever!” And it raised upwards of £5000. Thanks so much to everyone who took part on a very wet evening!
