SoLO Abseil a Super success
Monday 10 May 2010
Superheroes Batman and Robin were among 80 brave contenders abseiling down the iconic Fort Dunlop building this Saturday 8th May, raising thousands for SoLO.
The sponsored abseil was held less than a month after despicable thieves cut a hole through our roof, stealing thousands of pounds-worth of equipment. The April burglary blow came at a time when we are struggling to find £30,000 to avoid having to reduce our services. The money raised by the Fort Dunlop Abseil takes us a step closer to this goal.
Speaking about the abseil, SoLO’s Chief Executive Janet Down said:
“The Fort Dunlop abseil was a really great event. Despite the rainy weather, so many people came out to cheer on the abseilers as they bravely took on the 36 metre challenge. Several turned up in fancy dress…we had Dangermouse, Spiderman, and even Batman and Robin racing each other down the ropes! Most importantly, the money raised really will make a big difference – helping us continue to add value to the lives of young people and adults with learning disabilities”.
